Our Little Angel

Well...as everyone knows we had a little girl yesterday! (Thank you Taylor for updating everyone.)

The story of my labor actually starts with Rudder. All day on Friday he was acting really strange and when we fed him that night, we wouldn't eat. I tried to fed him a couple of handfuls of food, but he threw that up. So, with that said, brad and I decided to take him to the Emergency Animal Hospital after we got back from dinner.

We got there around 8 and after several hundred dollars, we learned that he had an infection, high temp and hook worms. After treating him with fluids and other meds, we left around 11:30 to head on home. The whole time we were there, we kept saying that we might go into labor any minute, but never thought it would actually happen.

Then, after being home for just 10 minutes (and I am NOT joking here...) my water starts to break. There we were explaning to Ladd and Ashley what the vet had said and all of a sudden, I had to RUSH to the restroom.

Of course I called my mom to see what we should do...go to the hospital or what. She told us to go on in so they could evaluate what exactly was happening.

So...we packed everything in the car and got to the hospital around 12:45 on Friday night. They checked us in, and told us that they would have to wait until 4:30 to start the pitocin. Needless to say, neither Brad nor I slept at all on Friday!

Around 11:00 on Saturday morning, I was really ready for my epidural. It felt like it took the doctor HOURS to get there, but he finally arrived. Here is a picture before the epidural...

And after....
The epidural was my friend! After that, I felt pretty good and was ready to meet my little one.

I was in labor for about 12 hours. Around 4:00, I was fully dilated and ready to push. My nurse wanted to do a "practice" push, to see how I would do, and then it was off to find the doctor. By the time they called the doctor and got everything ready, I only pushed for about 10 minutes before Avery arrived. She was born at 4:29 pm and weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces just like Taylor told yall.

Since our doctor (Dr. Romero) was not on call this weekend, we had Dr. Baker. Here he is with Avery. We are so very fortunate to have this blessing from above. We love you Avery McCall!
