On Thursday, I got an e-mail at school saying that Cy-Fair would be closed on Friday so people could prepare for Ike. All day on Friday, Brad and I got stuff together. He boarded up our bedroom and bathroom windows so we would be able to sleep, and I started gathering up the stuff on the back porch.
Here are a few pictures of what it looked like while we were waiting for it to hit land on Friday night.
We both wanted to stay up and to witness this massive storm, but I first had to take a cat nap.
Friday night/Saturday early morning REALLY stunk. We both got about 3 hours of sleep (in between watching the TV and the LOUD winds) and were really tired the next morning. Our power finally went off around 2:45 in the morning and I am guessing that is about when we fell asleep.
The next morning we woke up to this...
We were lucky that nothing major happened to our house. That was not the case for everyone.
Since our power was still off we couldn't see any pictures of the aftermath. So, we decided to take a dive around the block to see the local damage. Here are some of the pictures we took. Keep in mind this is JUST in our neighborhood....
Later on Saturday, Brad and I even went out to Katy to see what damage was done out there. Here is what we found.
Overall, I would consider everyone pretty lucky. It could have been a whole lot worse! I think we had Someone watching over us.

Thanks for the pics! I have been wondering! What a difference 90 miles inland makes!
The Katy house looks just like our house...a bunch of fallen limbs and fences. Our families were truly blessed!
We are so glad you made it through the storm safe and sound! Brock's Peepaw is still in CS, a tree is laying in the middle of his house and his brother lives on Crystal Beach and we all know what that looks like. You guys take care and give Avery kisses from us!
Material things can be replaced- thank God the most important assets made it through the storm with smiles reflected in the mirror! Love you!
