Yesterday Brad and I were sitting on the couch thinking about what we should do on his last day at home. We thought about doing some "chores" around the house (like putting the knobs on our bathroom cabinets or cleaning the garage out a little) but we just didn’t feel like doing any of that.
So…we sat there and thought of things we could do with a week old baby. Then Brad remembered that we still needed to pick his watch up from Kay Jewelers. About a month ago, we had it sent off to be refurbished since the rebate was about to expire and it was now ready to be picked up.
We were not quite sure if we should be taking an infant to the mall, but we decided it would be okay. We just made sure to keep the cover up on the stroller so she was covered the whole time. Plus, the mall is full of people…but nobody that we know. Therefore nobody would be really hovering over her or wanting to touch her.
After feeding her, off we went for our first real family outing (well in a public place for more than 45 minutes).
She did GREAT! She slept the whole time we were in the mall…which was about an hour and a half. Brad and I actually got things done too. He picked up his watch, and I got another nursing bra and a pair of Crocs Yes…I fell to the fad as well. But, they are not the original Crocs. The flip-flops are better. :)
By this point it was a little before
There wasn’t many people at all, and they sat us in the back away from everyone else as well. So, I felt a little better about the whole thing.
Avery did pretty good throughout dinner. She woke up right as our food was being delivered…of course right??? Brad took her to change her diaper and I got the bottle of breast milk we had in the diaper bag ready. When they got back, I fed her the bottle (since I was pretty much done with my food) while Brad ate his. After Avery was done eating, she went right back to sleep.
Overall, Avery did was good and Brad and I were able to get out of the house for a while. Win-win situation!
