Colorado Trip - Thursday/Friday

Back in high school my parents took all of us kids to Breckenridge one Christmas and I have the most wonderful memories of that trip. I wanted to to go back there to visit again and to shop for all of our souvenirs. So, that is exactly what we did on Thursday morning after eating some breakfast.

The town was pretty much the same as I remembered it. It was nice to just walk around and enjoy being with my family. We ended up getting a snow glob for me, an elephant for Brad, an Elmo t-shirt for Avery, and shot glasses for her teachers at school. Plus, we HAD to get these amazing soft pretzels at this little bakery in town. They were so good! Thanks Allison for showing us where to stop for a tasty snack!

After some more shopping, Mommy and Avery were getting pretty tired so we went back to the condo to rest a little bit. Since Avery slept in Daddy's arms while walking through Brek, she never did take a nap that afternoon. Even though she didn't really sleep, she was still in a good mood. So, we just decided to forget the nap and head back out to the sledding hill one last time before heading back to Texas the next morning.

Once there, Brad thought it would be a good idea to send Avery down the hill by herself. Mommy was not too keen on this idea at first, but once I saw how much fun she was having I was okay. She would smile the whole way down and then start crying as soon as the sled would stop. All she wanted was to kept going down the hill.
Look at her huge smile in this picture!

This next video is of Avery going off the "jump"...don't worry...it was only a few inches high. Mommy wouldn't have let anything happened to her.... :)

Mommy just loves her baby girl! I was so glad that we were able to bring her along with us on this trip. Her laughs and smiles were just priceless as she sled down the hill, threw snow at us, kicked the balloons around, etc. This is what life is all about!

That night, Brad and I wanted to make a few bottles of wine before leaving (Allison's family owns a couple wineries up in Colorado) so we decided we would head back to the house to do so. It took us a while to decide what type of wine to get and what we should put on all the labels. The time we spent was well worth it though. They turned out WONDERFUL!!!! Thank you so much Allison for doing that for us! You are the BEST!

As Allison was finishing up downstairs (their condo is right above one of the wineries they own) Brad and I headed upstairs to get ready for dinner. Taylor and Allison were kind enough to watch Avery for us while we went to dinner by ourselves. It was nice to have dinner with my husband. We got to really talk about the trip and what we liked about it. It was a good way to end the week.

After dinner, it was back home to pack and get everything ready for the morning. We had to leave the condo really early to catch our 7:15 flight in Denver. The snow storm that was moving in didn't help the matter either.

Friday Morning

The next morning we woke up around 3:15, got dressed and were out the door by 4:00 in the morning....yeah...it sucked! I was glad we left that early though because the snow storm had already started coming in. It took us a lot longer than normal to get to the airport because Taylor had to drive extremely slow the whole where there. I had never seen so much snow coming down before! It felt like I was in the middle of a blizzard!

Once we got to the airport, we had to wait in line at security before heading to our terminal. It wasn't long before they started boarding the plane. Around 7:30 the pilot came on and said that we were ready to depart from the gate to head to the "deicing station". Yeah...I never knew that the airplanes had to be deiced before taking off. By this point it was snowing pretty hard in Denver and the whole airplane had to be sprayed with this pink foam stuff in order for all the snow to melt. This took FOREVER! Finally around 8:00 we were up in the air and headed towards Houston.

We had a BLAST on our trip to Colorado. So many memories were created and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect trip. Thank you Taylor and Allison for letting us stay with yall. You two are the BEST!!!

Now...back to work tomorrow....
